Xakanaxa is located in the heart of The Moremi Game Reserve (central east Okavango Delta), rated as one of Africa’s most beautiful game reserves, offering sanctuary to abundant herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lechwe, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, sable antelope and much, much more. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena complete the picture. Birding is quite spectacular, especially during spring and summer when the migrants breed.

Towering riverine forests, open savanna, seasonal floodplains, permanent lagoons, rivers and the intricate channels of the Okavango Delta surround the camp and makes for a varied habitat that ensure the safari traveller the opportunity to experience year-round boating and mokoro trips as well as extensive game drives. Xakanaxa is situated on a superb site on the bank of the Khwai River overlooking the Xakanaxa Lagoon.

A typical day at Xakanaxa Camp:
Activities are flexible and can be tailor-made according to guest’s requirements but this will give you an idea of a typical day on safari in Botswana:

05h30/06h30 - Wake up call. Light continental breakfast served in the lounge area
06h30/07h30 - Depart on morning activity, returning to camp at approximately 10am
10h30/11h00 - Brunch is served consisting of a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes. At leisure.
15h00/15h30 - Afternoon tea is served
15h30/16h00 - Depart on afternoon game viewing activity – drinks and snacks are served for sundowners during the course of the activity. Sunset - Return to camp (depending on park regulations. Currently we have to be back in camp 30 minutes after sunset)
19h00/19h30 - Pre-dinner drinks will be served at the bar
19h30/20h00 - Three-course dinner
21h30/21h00 - Coffee and liqueurs served at the campfire

Activities:

• Game Drives via open Land Rovers. ( 4 Land Rovers each with the seating capacity of 10, however we only accommodate 6 / 8 guests per vehicle)

• Water game viewing via mokoro. This activity is of a 30 minute duration and is done is conjunction with a powerboat exploration of the Okavango. (4 mokoro each seating two guests)

• Power boating available year round (3 x 8-seater boats)
