Self-Drive Safaris are a cost effective and adventurous way to experience the African bush, as are self-catering safaris.

Self drive safaris are possible in most of the big African safari countries but a 4x4 vehicle is needed/recommended in all of them due to the condition of the roads which are mostly gravel (except in South Africa where normal vehicles can usually be used).

There are several budget options for self-drive safaris and you choose which is best suited to you.

Starting off is the camping option where we provide vehicles that are fully equipped for sleeping out under the stars in the heart of the African bush.  This is obviously self-catering safari and totally at your own pace.

The next option would be lodge to lodge self drive safaris meaning you drive yourselves between lodges.  African Safari Lodges vary in price and therefore inclusions such as meals and game drives.  So, depending on your budget, you will either do your own game drives and meals or have your every need catered for by the lodges.

Obviously you can break it up and have some nights camping and some nights in a safari lodge.  You tell us what you want and we will customize your African self-drive safari to your specifications.
