Exeter Private Game Reserve is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, renowned for having the best Big Five game-viewing in South Africa, if not the world. Located on the southwestern corner of the Kruger National Park, there are no restricting fences, thus enabling the animals to roam freely just as nature intended. The Reserve is famous for its incredible leopard sightings. The Sabi Sand leopards have grown accustomed to safari vehicles, thereby permitting close up sightings and extraordinary photographic opportunities.

Exeter Dulini Safari Lodge: As one of only 12 guests, you feel instantly at home in this luxurious lodge, where classic interiors enfold guests in quiet style and elegance. Generous private plunge pools and shady decks look out onto the dry riverbed just metres away. Dine under the ancient jackalberry tree where skilled chefs serve delicious meals or steal away for an intimate dinner in the well-stocked wine cellar.

Set on the banks of the seasonal Mabrak River, this tranquil retreat offers tantalising glimpses of the calm rhythms of the bush, with leafy views opening up to surprise scenes of the nearby riverbed and the animal life centred round it.

Exeter River Lodge: Set in a leafy, evergreen thicket on the banks of the Sand River, each room in the Lodge offers panoramic views of the water and the wildlife it attracts. Awake to the river rolling slowly past your front door and watch the African wildlife going about their morning activities. The game viewing continues all day, whether on a game drive or from the comfort of the Lodge’s shady viewing deck. The full flavours of lunch acquire an extra edge on our open air dining deck, with the distant splashing of animals coming down to drink at the water’s edge as a gentle reminder of Africa.

 

Follow the example of the hippo wallowing in the river and seek refuge from the heat of the afternoon in the personal plunge pool on the deck of your suite. Or simply retire for a restful siesta or a quiet hour with a good book in the cool interior of your spacious suite. While the elephant cavort in the river below you can indulge in your own outdoor shower - just as refreshing but without the added adventure of mud!

Leadwood Lodge: Situated on a wooded bank of the Sand River, Leadwood’s four suites offer solitude and serenity. Fully sized private plunge pools soothe and refresh in the warmth of the day, while a blazing fireplace in each suite offers a cosy refuge when cool nights creep in. Elevated dining and sitting areas boast dramatic views over the confluence of the Sand and Mabrak Rivers. Multi-levelled viewing areas create intimate corners for a quiet moment of inner reflection.
