Hot Air Balloon Safari over the Serengeti - The most beautiful balloon flight in the world and the ultimate safari experience. See the Serengeti from above in a magical hot air balloon.

We strongly advise you to book in advance to secure your place.  There are only three balloons in the entire Serengeti and this exclusive adventure is frequently fully booked.

Best time to see the migration:
Expect big herds in Seronera late May through June and again November/December.
In Serengeti South, the vast herds congregate December through March.
In The Western Corridor July/August can be particularly rewarding.

Typical itinerary:
5:00 am: Transfer by Landrover to launch site.  Here you will meet your pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon.

At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below.

At other times he will ascend to 1000' or more to see the enormity and wonderful panorama of the Serengeti. From time to time the pilot must put more heat into the balloon with the powerful whisper burners. In between these burns, there is silence apart from the natural sounds below.  

The flight is for about one hour depending on conditions, and eventually you must land. You celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine) before sitting down to a full English breakfast.

General Information
Number of passengers Minimum of 4 passengers, the on-site balloon can carry a maximum of 8 passengers.
Balloons carrying 12 and 16 passengers are available with prior notice.
Departures Daily, weather conditions are amenable to balloon flying all year round.
Inclement Weather Should the weather not lend itself to flying we will, subject to availability accommodate you with a flight on the following day, should we not be able to fly during your visit you will be fully refunded.
Duration of Flights Flights last for approximately one hour, depending on the wind speed and direction.
The balloons are especially designed to echo the colours of the Serengeti plains over which they fly, acacia green and savannah gold.
Licensing Operating since 1990 the balloon industry in Tanzania is regulated by the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority, all pilots
hold commercial balloon pilot licenses.
Restrictions We do not carry children under the age of 7. There is no upper age limit, however passengers must be reasonably mobile and fit to fly.
Reservations It is recommended that you pre-book your safari but safari’s can be booked on arrival at the lodge.

The current rate is US$500 per person.
